Girl Scout Cookie/Critter Pairings

Helen Woodward Animal Center and Girl Scout Troop #4204 Make Marvelous Matches of Two Sweet Treats

(Helen Woodward Animal Center orphan pup Coco hopes you’ll pick up two sweet treats this weekend!)

Rancho Santa Fe, CA (March 8, 2017) –   Most people are familiar with beer or wine-pairings, but this Saturday Helen Woodard Animal Center and Girl Scout Troop #4204 have cooked up an original pairing event sure to get sweet-toothed folks and animal-lovers alike drooling.  As the last official weekend of Girl Scout cookie sales, individuals are encouraged to hurry down to pick up two of the most delectable treats imaginable – cookies and a critter, paired perfectly for each and every taste.  Girl Scout Troop #4204 will be at Helen Woodward Animal Center cheering on adoptions and closing out the cookie-selling season with a bang, and woof, and a meow from 11:30-2pm this Saturday, March 11th.   All adopters receive a FREE box of cookies* to match with their new sweetie.  (*Remember that cookies are for people, NOT for pets!)

Girls Scouts across the country have spent weeks selling cookies to earning funds for inspiring programs and practice valuable life skills like business management, communication, and goal setting. Saturday’s event will add two essential ingredients to the cookie selling extravaganza- service and animals. Just like the traditional cookie sales, pairing pets with cookies has an even sweeter goal than what meets the eye.

“Whenever we talk about community service it’s all about helping the less fortunate and animals, so this fits right into our troop mission,” says Leader Lori Burchell. “Our girls will learn to be advocates for animals through using their skills and their voices to make a difference for orphan pets. Having some furry “junior sales assistants” at the event is definitely a bonus!”

This isn’t the first “helping paw” the Girl Scouts have lent pets at Helen Woodward Animal Center. Girl Scout troops have donated handmade pet beds and toys and spent time with the Center’s Education Department learning about careers in service to animals though their “You Can Be a Vet” day camp, and getting hands-on humane education through tours and seasonal programs.

Adopters who are lucky enough to find their own perfect match will go home with a new forever friend AND a box cookies to celebrate with.  Pairings include (but are not limited to) the following:

3 month-old, miniature poodle-blend, female Coco is an ideal pairing with a box of peanut buttery Tagalongs – Vanilla in color with a thin nutty-layer of puppy energy and the sweetness of chocolate makes them a perfect match!

21 month-old, Shepherd-Lab-blend, tripod Frosty is a great match-up with a box of lemony Savannah Smiles – Her thick coat is prepped for the cool flavor of lemon and the cookies’ refreshingly tangy frosting mirrors her adventurous personality.

2 year-old, domestic shorthaired feline Tapioca was born to snuggle up next to a box of Samoas.  Her cream, brown and tan markings are an exact match to the caramel, toasted coconut, chocolate-striped treats and her deep purrs are just as rich.

No matter which cookie is your favorite, the selection of an orphan pet will provide a lifetime of love to really savor.  You’re invited to join Girl Scout Troop #4204 will be at Helen Woodward Animal Center this Saturday, March 11th from 11:30am – 2:00pm.  All adopters received a free box of Girl Scout cookies to match with their new forever friend.  (Please remember that chocolate is dangerous for pets and opt to share your kisses, not your cookies!)
