On March 28, 2010 the Helen Woodward Animal Center welcomed a unique phenomenon to the Equine Hospital, twin foals! The birth of twins is extremely rare in the equine world; Survival rates of a mare and both foals during birth is about 1 in 10,000. Furthermore, there is a 1 in 15,000 chance both twins will survive their first two weeks. Thanks to the dedicated Equine Hospital Staff, the mare (Lena) and her two foals (Sunny and Angel) received 24/7 state of the art care, and all three managed to beat the odds! Read more about Sunny and Angel and see what they are up to today!
