Whether you are an experienced artist or simply interested in connecting with animals in a new way, our new program, Crafting with Critters, is sure to get your creativity muscle working!
Each instructor-led session will explore a different style of art and incorporate a different animal muse. Each session will also include hands-on interaction with their animal model and participants will get to take home a unique art piece they have created!
We recommend that participants be confident in their ability to use scissors and glue, as each craft will utilize some level of cutting and gluing.
Paper Quilling with Tasha the African Grey Parrot
Paper quilling, also called paper filigree, is a paper craft that has been popular since the 15th century! Though the art form might look complicated, it is relatively easy to master once you understand the technique. You’ll be impressed with how you can make complicated shapes and patterns from simple paper strips and glue!
When most people think of sculpture, they think of “sculpture in the round” because we picture a sculpture to be seen from all sides.
There is another form of sculpture called relief sculpture which is meant to be only seen from one side. Using recycled materials is a great way to give common household items a new life and create a one-of-a-kind art piece!
Made of multiple layers of paper cut designs, this 3D layer art is a beautiful way to capture a scene in a multi-dimensional way. They are great to display as home décor!
