Helen Woodward Animal Center Begs Animal Lovers Across San Diego to “Taco One for the Team” and Delay Taco Tuesday This Week
Sales at Chipotle Benefit Orphan Pets Wednesday, August 9th

(Helen Woodward Animal Center hopes San Diegans can wait for Guacamole Wednesday!)

Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.  (August 7th, 2017) – Helen Woodward Animal Center is begging taco-loving animal enthusiasts across San Diego to delay this week’s Taco Tuesday. The delay has been called for as a result of an awesome opportunity to help support orphan animals, by satisfying your cravings  this Wednesday instead. On Wednesday, August 9th, from 10:30am to close, all San Diego Chipotle locations will donate half of your purchase to Helen Woodward Animal Center when you mention the Center at checkout!

“Chipotle has set-up what could be the most generous single-day fundraiser we’ve ever had,” said Jessica Gercke, spokesperson for Helen Woodward Animal Center. “Taco Tuesday is an institution in San Diego, so we don’t ask for this delay lightly. We also know that San Diego is just about the most dog-loving city in the US, maybe in the world and going to Chipotle on Wednesday will make such a difference for orphan animals currently at Helen Woodward Animal Center.”

Taco lovers of San Diego have been receptive so far. “Adorable animals are just about the only thing I would delay Taco Tuesday for,” said local taco enthusiast and dog lover Mindy Wright. “Since half of the sale will go to the animals at Helen Woodward Animal Center, it’s kind of like sharing a taco with a puppy, which is definitely worth it.”

Should you generously opt to delay your Taco Tuesday habit, experts still emphasize the importance of getting your taco-fix in on Wednesday (specifically at a Chipotle location), citing the dangers of a diet low in guacamole. Since going without tacos on Taco Tuesday will not be easy, we’ve compiled the following tips:

  • If you find yourself craving tacos too early, distract yourself by visiting animalcenter.org and ogling adorable adoptable dogs and cats!
  • If Tuesday just doesn’t feel right without a taco, dress your dog or cat up like a taco! Your costumed buddy will serve as a reminder that all good and pure things in this world are either animals or food, and you’re going to do-right by both on Wednesday when you mention Helen Woodward Animal Center at checkout at Chipotle.
  • Be first in line at your local Chipotle at 10:30am on Wednesday to satisfy all of your guac needs and fill your animal-loving heart with joy!

Animal-loving San Diegans will be glad to know that all of their non-taco favorites at Chipotle like burritos, salads, and bowls are also included in the fundraiser. Half of the total purchase, including all food and drinks, will be donated to Helen Woodward Animal Center. What a great reason to indulge in a margarita!
