DOG & CAT RESCUE – PET OF THE WEEK

Helen Woodward Animal Center Pet-of-the-Week for May 20, 2013

Smooth Guy “Smirnoff”

Meet Smirnoff, Pet-of-the-Week at Helen Woodward Animal Center! This 11.6lb 6-year old Tabby blend may sound like a party animal, but he is really quite a mellow home-body. He is a mature, independent guy with laid-back attitude to match his ‘cool guy’ strut. At first blush, he may seem a little shy, but give him just a few minutes and you’ll have made a warm, purry forever friend.

Smirnoff is waiting to meet you at Helen Woodward Animal Center. He has been neutered and is up-to-date on all of his vaccinations.  His adoption fee is $106 and, as with all pets adopted from Helen Woodward Animal Center, he is micro chipped for identification.  As an added bonus, Smirnoff also comes with two free passes to Sea World!

Helen Woodward Animal Center is located at 6461 El Apajo Road in Rancho Santa Fe. Kennels are open daily Monday through Thursday from 12pm to 6pm; Fridays from noon to 7pm; Saturdays 10am to 6pm; and Sunday 11am to 6pm (last application accepted 15 minutes before closing). For more information call 858-756-4117, option #1.

Why Do We Choose a Pet of the Week?

Each week, Helen Woodward Animal Center features a special dog or cat looking for a new family.  Our featured pet may be selected by our adoptions staff or by our volunteers.  These pets are often transferred to us through a cat rescue or a dog rescue group that has sought our help with placing the homeless pet who was “running out of time” in an overcrowded shelter.  They are usually adult dogs or cats (puppies and kittens get adopted so quickly, they don’t have time to be featured!), who are selected because we feel that they deserve some special attention and may not be getting as many visits as they merit to show off their unique and wonderful qualities.   Our Pet of the Week is always a beautiful and extraordinary pet looking to be adopted into his or her new family.
