Rancho Santa Fe, CA (Nov. 21, 2022) – Today, USA returns to the FIFA World Cup, with the slogan – “One Nation. One Team.” In celebration, the pups at Helen Woodward Animal Center took to the field for their very own “FIDO” World Cup boasting fancy paw-work, fuzzy flop/dives and the slogan – “One Shelter. One Goal.” The “goal” they seek? An “assist” to their happily-ever-afters and the “save” of a lifetime.
All eyes are on the US Men’s National Team as they face-off their first Group B opponents against Wales at the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup competition. Making the event even more exciting, the game marks USA’s first return since attending the World Cup in 2014, resulting in what is being called the best-ever generation of players (or the golden generation). As the second youngest team participating in the World Cup this year, USA’s young players will surely be game for victory.
Also ready to play, the Helen Woodward Animal Center World Cup Pups took to the field for their golden opportunity. At just a few months old, our players also know a thing or two about youth and lively play. Bluebird (representing Christian Pulisic), Crane (representing Giovanni Reyna), and Canary (representing Weston McKennie) got the ball rolling with paw punts, tail tackles and nose passes. RUFFeree, Mickey, was there to ensure fair play, while also keeping his eyes open for potential adopters who’d make a great “match.”
Center pups are rooting for USMNT throughout their journey in Qatar. To get your own dedicated football player, stop by Helen Woodward Animal Center and adopt! You’ll find that every one is a “keeper.”
If you are interested in adopting, or would like more information, please contact Helen Woodward Animal Center Adoption Department at: 858-756-4117 ext. 313, visit www.animalcenter.org or stop by at 6461 El Apajo Road in Rancho Santa Fe.
