Gina is Prima
They say the hardest exteriors hide the softest hearts. Gina, an 11-year-old black Domestic Shorthair, is the prime example of that. When people first see her inside her enclosure curled up into herself on her cat tower, they might think she’s unfriendly. She’ll raise her head cast what some might feel is a malevolent glare. And when you step into her space she won’t trot up to you and start rubbing her face all over your hand. Instead, she’ll sit in her tower and stare at you with her thin, almond shaped eyes. But don’t let this seemingly standoff-ish attitude sour your feelings about her. She’s not plotting your demise. She’s just had a full first chapter of her life. A life that commands your respect. Present your hand and ask for her trust and she’ll melt under your head pats. Once you’ve won her approval, she’ll purr in your presence, knead you a batch of muffins and reveal herself as the wise kitty companion you’ve been looking for.
Gina is waiting to meet you at Helen Woodward Animal Center. She’s been altered and is up-to-date on all of her vaccinations. She is microchipped for identification as with all pets adopted from Helen Woodward Animal Center.
Helen Woodward Animal Center is located at 6461 El Apajo Road in Rancho Santa Fe. Kennels are open Monday to Thursday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information call 858-756-4117, option #1.
Helen Woodward Animal Center pets come from a variety of sources, such as the transfer of animals from public shelters to relieve overcrowding, working with local dog and cat rescues, as well as owner surrender. Every animal in our pet adoption program has received a medical examination, spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations, tons of TLC and a microchip. Christmas Day: Closed Wednesday, December 25th. Regular hours resume Thursday, December 26th.
New Year’s Eve: Open Tuesday, December 31st, from 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
New Year’s Day: Open early on Wednesday, January 1st, from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Regular hours resume Thursday, January 2nd.
