Valentine’s Day Dog Card

Show some love for pets this Valentine’s Day by creating this Dog Card made out of hearts! People can show love and respect for each other on Valentine’s Day by exchanging cards. The first valentine was sent way back in the 15th century! Now 145 million greeting cards are exchanged every year for Valentine’s Day. While we may not be able to give our pets a card – at least not one that they can read – there are many ways you can show love and appreciation for your pets this Valentine’s Day! One way we can help our pets is by providing enrichment to them. Enrichment can come in the form of food, training, toys, and more, and is anything that keeps their mind busy. This prevents them from getting bored, and allows them to do things that make them happy! How will you show love to your pet this Valentine’s Day?

Materials: brown, black, and pink construction paper, cardstock, scissors, pencil, blue marker, glue stick, (2) googly eyes

Directions:

  1. Begin by folding the cardstock in half and drawing half a heart. With the paper still in half, cut it out.

  1. Trace the cardstock heart onto both shades of brown construction paper. Cut them out. Fold the dark brown paper in half and cut along the line.

  1. Draw and cut out a small heart on the black construction paper.

  1. Draw and cut out a tongue on the pink construction paper.

  1. Glue the dark brown heart pieces as ears, and the small black heart as a nose onto the light brown heart.

6. Turn the heart over and glue the pink tongue onto the back of the brown heart.

7. Add googly eyes. Using black marker, draw on whisker spots.

Write a note to your valentine on the back of the card!

Due to Hurricane Hilary, all  departments will be closing at 3pm today.  Stay safe!
