THANKING OUR PAWSOME HEALTHCARE WORKERS

Helen Woodward Animal Center Naming Cuddly Canines in Honor of COVID-19 Crisis Workers

Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.  (Apr. 23, 2020) – With the rise of the COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare workers have taken their well-deserved place in the spotlight throughout the world.  Honorary “thank yous” have been seen in the form of firetruck parades, evening serenades, and balcony-strewn standing ovations.  Now Helen Woodward Animal Center is providing the community a heartwarming (and cuddly!) way to pay tribute to the special doctors, nurses, and EMTs helping to fight the deadly virus… by naming a puppy after them!

Beginning tomorrow, animal-lovers can nominate a healthcare worker on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis.  Each week, Helen Woodward Animal Center will post three of those nominations and a corresponding photo of a newly available puppy named after the special individuals working hard to care for patients and going above and beyond for those in need of medical services right now.

“The orphan pets we meet each day are honestly angels,” explained Helen Woodward Animal Center Operations Director Jennifer Shorey.  “They mean the world to us and it seemed like the perfect way to show the healthcare workers that they mean the world to us too.  We know they are working tirelessly and selflessly to save the lives of COVID-19 patients and we hope that seeing these fuzzy faces will bring them a smile.”
