Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. (May 1, 2025) – The month of May is Prom Season and that means just one thing at Helen Woodward Animal Center – the 11th Annual Puppy Prom and Kitty Court! This year, fluffy furballs sporting their finest bow ties and sparkling tiaras will seek the royal title of “Best Dressed Prom King and Queen” at a brand-new location! Grab your forever, furry prom date and bump star-studded collars with other adoptees at the 11th Annual Puppy Prom on Sunday, May 18 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – at McGregor’s Bar & Grill (10475 San Diego Mission Rd, San Diego, CA 92108).
For over a decade, Helen Woodward Animal Center’s prom-themed alumni event has brought together “graduating classes” of former orphan pets and their forever families. The festive party
returns for another year to welcome pups dressed to the nines in tuxes with boutonnieres, and dresses with matching painted paw-nails. The Prom-themed party is FREE to attend for all who support animal rescue, no matter the shelter they hail from.
Pups of all grade (age) levels can participate in time-honored prom activities such as snapping picture-perfect photos against a variety of classic prom backdrops, snacking on treats for both pups and people, partaking in the Make-Your-Own-Mimosa Bar (for People Only please), spinning the Wheel of FURtune for PAWsitively promtastic prizes, and strolling the catwalk for the chance to be crowned “Best Dressed Prom King and Queen” ($20 per entry). A group photo of all alumni and guests will be taken for display on the Center website to honor our beloved extended family of puppies and people.
Helen Woodward Animal Center isn’t leaving out our beloved kitty friends, and will showcase them with a “Kitty Court” to highlight the “best dressed. To enter your kitty, simply go online to https://animalcenter.org/PuppyProm and submit a photo of your cat, dressed in their best attire. Photos will be shared through the Center’s social media and voted on at Puppy Prom by attendees. Prizes will be awarded for the “Best Dressed Kitty Prom King and Queen.” Cat parents are encouraged to attend to participate in voting for their favorite fancy feline.
“The only thing better than Prom is Puppy Prom,” said Helen Woodward Animal Center Pet Acquisition Manager Labeth Thompson. “It is such an adorable way to see how rescue pets are experiencing their happily-ever-after. We are so grateful to McGregor’s Bar & Grill for providing such a great location to celebrate the joy adoption brings to families and their pets.”
100% of proceeds from contest fees and opportunity drawings go directly to supporting orphan pets at Helen Woodward Animal Center. Additionally, McGregor’s Bar & Grill will donate 30% of all food and drink purchases during the event to support Helen Woodward Animal Center pets and programs.
