Rancho Santa Fe, CA (Apr. 21, 2016) – Baseball season is here and the San Diego Padres have come out swinging… for orphan pets!  In February, the hometown team invited Helen Woodward Animal Center representatives to Peoria for the second year in a row to add some tail wags to spring training.  Top players let down their tough athlete personas to cuddle with homeless pups while photographers captured the heartwarming images for a stadium-wide calendar giveaway scheduled at the April 24th home game vs. the St. Louis Cardinals.  Be sure to snag your tickets to this weekend’s Padres game and get a FREE calendar featuring your favorite animal-loving ball players and Helen Woodward Animal Center adoptable pups!

The calendar features 9 months of high profile players (such as Matt Kemp, Andrew Cashner, Tyson Ross and James Shields, among others), along with Helen Woodward Animal Center orphan pups, and is being made possible through the kindness of Cox and the San Diego Padres.   Center adoptables will greet attendees at the stadium entry gates at the April 24th game and encourage sports fans to pick up their calendars and always opt to adopt!  Additionally, players featured in the calendar will be seen on Helen Woodward Animal Center billboards over the next 3 months, highlighting the Center, the Padres and these very special players devoted to rescue.

“This is officially my favorite thing we get to do,” said Helen Woodward Animal Center Social Media Supervisor Marcie Grube. “I have always been a Padres fan and I love rooting for them each season.  Seeing their kindness and support for orphan pets just gives me another reason to love them.”

“We are incredibly grateful that the Padres and Cox extended this incredible opportunity to promote our orphan pets for a second year,” said Helen Woodward Animal Center Vice President of Development Renee Resko.  “Saving lives takes teamwork and we can’t think of a better team to help us send these guys home.”
