(July 26, 2024) – Tonight, while the world gets ready to experience the Opening Ceremonies of the 2024 Summer Olympics, Helen Woodward Animal Center orphan pets are gearing up for their very own O-PAW-ning Ceremonies igniting this year’s 2024 Critter OlymPETs. Like our US Olympic team, furry Center comPETitors have elected an elder ball player as their male flagbearer. Referred to as the Lebron James of Helen Woodward Animal Center, 3-year-old Boxer-Terrier blend Mister is the Center’s longest-term resident and a true representation of confidence, dedication and perseverance. Helen Woodward Animal Center alerts the media and community to stay tuned to the 2024 Critter Olympics – now through August 11th!
No one would deny how captivating a season of competing pro-athletes at the top of their game will be, all accompanied by the stunning view of Paris as their backdrop. Animal-lovers may argue, however, that there truly is nothing that will ever beat the heart-swelling joy of watching a furry family member come out a winner in its favorite game of catch or scale the highest cat tree in a game of laser tag. Not to mention how these four-footed friends immediately turn any home into the City of Love.
With this in mind, Helen Woodward Animal Center will keep on-line social media fans enraptured with three weeks of the cutest comPETitions to hit San Diego. From swimming to gymnastics to soccer to sport climbing to sailing, Center orphan pets and Humane Education animal ambassadors will show the world that the awww-inspiring feats of our animal friends take gold every single time.
To kick-off the summer games, Helen Woodward Animal Center pets held an O-PAW-ning Ceremony of their own. Orphan canine Mister was the unanimous favorite to serve as Center flagbearer. His perseverance to find a forever home is the stuff of legends. The longest-term resident at Helen Woodward Animal Center, 3-year-old Mister takes his training seriously and is looking for an adult home with a future coach that is an experienced pet owner.
“All the other Center pets look up to him,” said Adoption Services Director Kendall Schulz. “He never loses sight of the greatness that will one day be his forever home. He has persevered too long to settle, although we know his dreams of love are just as real as any of the other comPETitors. It was an easy vote for all of us when it came to selecting Mister as Center representative.”
Helen Woodward Animal Center is excited to bring a touch of the Olympics into homes with enough cuteness to win gold. The Online 2024 Critter OlymPETs Opening Ceremonies kick off today with unique competitions scheduled through August 11th. While you won’t find these fluffies riding down the Seine, Center orphan pups and kittens are hoping their athletic prowess will encourage viewers to SEINE-d them straight into the arms of a loving family.
