Puppy players face-off to forecast which NFL team will take home the trophy.
Rancho Santa Fe, CA (Feb. 6, 2023) – Right before the Super Bowl airs, Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl XIX will feature two Center alumni, Carlos and Crocket! They will play on Team Fluff and invite all their friends and fans to a Puppy Bowl Watch Party on February 12th from 10AM-1PM at McGregor’s Grill (10475 San Diego Mission Rd.)
With Super Bowl Sunday just over a week away, two playful puppies at Helen Woodward Animal Center have taken on the challenge of PAW-dicting this year’s winning team. Representing the Chiefs and Eagles, the cutest quarterbacks, PAWtrick Mahomes and TAIL-en Hurts, took to the grid-iron with their squeaky football for one-on-one games to choose which team will bring home the championship. In the end, these furry football fanatics finally chose the Chiefs!

As littermates, the Center’s PAW-trick Mahomes and TAIL-en Hurts, both 14-week-old Hound-Terrier blends, experienced some sibling rivalry on the field. As they got into formation, Mahomes was ready to jump into action and scurried the toy to the end zone to make an impressive touchdown. Their next test was to see who could finish their puppy kibble first. It was a close call, but Mahomes was hungry for the win. He gobbled up his favorite Blue Buffalo breakfast in 35 seconds flat!
Despite their paw-diction, both Mahomes and Hurts know they will both be winners when they find forever loving homes. They hope that bringing their A-game on the field inspires families to choose adoption. They each hope to have a home and couch to cuddle on before the big game!
Best of all, both of this year’s comPETitors will attend the McGregor’s Watch Party to pass out licks and PAWtographs, and 10% of proceeds will benefit the Center’s pets and programs.
