Christmas Comes Early to Helen Woodward Animal Center

This Friday, a generous friend of the Center sponsors half of each adoption fee.

Rancho Santa Fe (12/14/23) – Tis the season of giving and there is simply no better gift to give than the gift of love.  Generous Helen Woodward Animal Center friends Larry and Jan Krystkowiak agree and are celebrating by sponsoring half the cost of adoption fees for anyone who takes home a new furry family member TOMORROW, Friday, December 15th. Making that gift even sweeter, each adopted pet will also receive a surprise gift, pulled from Santa’s stocking.  Special gift cards will reveal prizes that range from toys to crates to food to leashes!

The love of family is an important factor in the special feeling of the holiday season.  For many, however, the challenging cost of travel, restricting demands of work, or the loss of loved ones turn the “merriest months” into some of the most melancholy.

“Our orphan pets can feel it too,” said Helen Woodward Adoption Services Director Kendall Schulz.  “There’s a bustle to the season and you can see how excited our furry residents get when potential adopters come in and how sad they become when no one takes them home.”

There is a solution.  Adoption of a furry family member is a gift that gives to both the human and the orphan pet.  Best of all, it is a gift of love that lasts for many years to come.  With this in mind, former NBA power forward, Larry and his wife Jan Krystkowiak, reached out to the Center and asked if they could do something nice for the community.

“We were thrilled when Jan contacted us with the idea,” said Helen Woodward VP of Development.  “Donations to the Center are always so appreciated but it really touches our heart when someone finds a way to donate so that they can actively help our orphan pets find loving homes.  We are excited to see the all the joy that will be filling the lobby on Friday.”

Helen Woodward Animal Center’s Adoption Department opens at 10:00 a.m. on Friday morning and closes at 6:00 p.m.  All potential adopters must fill out an application and pets are secured on a first-come-first-served basis.  The last application will be taken at 5:30 p.m.  The Krystkowiak Family will sponsor half the cost of each adoption fee.  Each adopter will also receive a special surprise gift to be redeemed in Helen Woodward Animal Center’s Paws in the Ranch Store.
