Jackson’s Happy New Year!

Jackson spent most of his 2025 sitting in Helen Woodward Animal Center’s cattery. The one year old chonky Gray Tabby came to us in late Spring last year from one of our rescue partners in Los Angeles. We knew from the outset that Jackson would be a tough kitty to find a home for. He came to us as a fully grown adult cat, and most people looking to add a feline friend to their family want a tiny, weeks old kitten. This leads to adult cats like Jackson spending much of their lives watching their younger neighbors find their happily ever afters while they’re stuck in the shelter.

During his tenure with us, Jackson had few showings. Those who were interested in him, always decided to take home a younger kitten instead. The beefy boy had started to settle in to his tenement in the Center’s cattery.

But then, just before Jackson’s second birthday, an East County family fell in love with the adorable Chunk. They knew the friendly feline with a love for tushy scratchies and coarse cuddles was the furry friend they were looking for. They took him home that day and reported he wasted no time settling in to his new home.

Jackson, now called Chunk, loves his new pet parents, following them everywhere around the house. He’s also developed a penchant for running up and down their stairs which they say is the workout he needs!
