Helen Woodward Animal Center Celebrates A Decade of Dapper Dogs and Fancy Felines at 10th Annual Puppy Prom

Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.  (May 2, 2024) – Returning this prom season, Helen Woodward Animal Center invites elegant, fluffy alumni and friends for a celebration of animal rescue. The Center’s Puppy Prom brings our four-legged companions together on the dance floor in search of the “Best Dressed Prom King and Queen!” Grab your forever, furry prom date and bump star-studded collars with other adoptees at the 10th Annual Puppy Prom on Saturday, May 18 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.hosted by Original 40 Brewing: 3117 University Ave, San Diego, CA 92104.

For the past decade, Helen Woodward Animal Center’s prom-themed alumni event has brought together former orphan pets and their families from our “graduating classes.” The festive party returns for another year to welcome pups dressed to the nines in tuxes with boutonniere, and dresses with matching painted paw-nails.  The Prom-themed party is FREE to attend for all who support animal rescue.

Pups of all grade (age) levels can participate in time-honored prom activities such as, snapping picture-perfect photos against a variety of classic prom backdrops, snacking on treats for both pups and people, creating your own corsage or boutonniere, and strolling the catwalk for the chance to be crowned “Best Dressed Prom King and Queen” ($20 per entry). Tickets for opportunity drawings will be available for the chance to win fabulous prizes. A group photo of all alumni and guests will be taken for display on the Center website to honor our beloved extended family of puppies and people.

Original 40 Brewing will donate 30% of all food and drink purchases during the event to support Helen Woodward Animal Center pets and programs.  Additionally, the dog-friendly business will reveal the new label for their PAWSitive Memories Blonde Ale! Throughout April, more than 50 contestants raised nearly $8,000 to help orphan pets at Helen Woodward Animal Center. The top two fund-raisers will be announced at Puppy Prom, and have their adorable faces featured on the limited-edition beer.

Helen Woodward Animal Center loves our kitty alumni too and will honor them with a “Best Dressed Kitty King and Queen” contest. To enter your rescue kitty, simply go online to https://animalcenter.org/events/puppy-prom/ and submit a photo of your cat (dressed in their prom attire). Photos will be shared through the Center’s social media and voted on at the Puppy Prom by prom-goers at the event. Prizes will be awarded for the “Best Dressed Kitty Prom King and Queen.” Cat parents are encouraged to attend to participate in voting for their favorite fancy feline.

“Puppy Prom just melts your heart. It is such an adorable way to see how rescue pets get their happy-ending and go on to thrive in loving homes with their forever families,” said Helen Woodward Animal Center Pet Acquisition Manager Labeth Thompson. “We are so grateful to Original 40 Brewing for providing such a great location for our annual prom and helping us celebrate the joy adoption brings to families and their pets.”

100% of proceeds from contest fees and opportunity drawings go directly to supporting orphan pets at Helen Woodward Animal Center.  For more information, to RSVP and to register your cat or pup for the “Best Dressed King or Queen” contest, head to https://animalcenter.org/events/puppy-prom/
