Estrella's Path to Stardom
When Estrella first came to Helen Woodward Animal Center, she was… challenging. The 2-year-old kitty didn’t like to be pet, she didn’t like getting scratchies, and she most certainly didn’t like getting picked up. It seemed all Estrella really wanted was to be left alone in her cat condo on the far side of the Center’s cattery. Every day she watched her neighbors find their forever homes while she laid in her cat bed, spurning any and all affection.
It would take more than that for the Center’s Animal Care Technicians (ACT’s) to give up on her. An ACT named Sara grew attached to the grumpy black cat. She started working with Estrella to help her shine like the star she is. Sara started with a cat scratcher to get Estrella used to being touched. This evolved into giving her pets with her hand and then, she was able to move Estrella into one of the meeting rooms.
Months of patience paid off as now Estrella is the sweetest lap kitty a cat lover could ever ask for. She’s gone from shying away from pets to demanding them from anyone with opposable thumbs. Estrella now loves cuddle time. She’ll purr herself to sleep as she cuddles in the crevice of your arms, and she’ll boop her little nose with those she loves the most. Estrella has really come out of her shell over the past months and she is looking for a forever family who has experience with cats, and the patience to give her the time to get adjusted to her new surroundings. She’d also prefer a family with kids who are 16 or older, and she doesn’t mind other cats and dogs! Come give this new super star the happily ever after she’s always deserved!
Estrella is waiting to meet you at Helen Woodward Animal Center. She’s been altered and is up-to-date on all of her vaccinations. She is microchipped for identification as with all pets adopted from Helen Woodward Animal Center.
Helen Woodward Animal Center is located at 6461 El Apajo Road in Rancho Santa Fe. Kennels are open Monday to Thursday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information call 858-756-4117, option #1.
Helen Woodward Animal Center pets come from a variety of sources, such as the transfer of animals from public shelters to relieve overcrowding, working with local dog and cat rescues, as well as owner surrender. Every animal in our pet adoption program has received a medical examination, spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations, tons of TLC and a microchip. Our goal is to adopt our pets into loving and permanent homes. Helen Woodward Animal Center Adoption Counselors are here to help you choose a pet who will be your perfect match for life.
