Since 2017, Pets Without Walls has been helping unhoused individuals, low-income seniors, and veterans across San Diego County by keeping their four-legged companions healthy. The bond between people experiencing hardship and their pets is strong; in doing our part to support the health of these pets, we help keep them with their beloved owners.
In 2022, we were able to expand our services to include low-income seniors thanks to funding from the Alex and Elisabeth Lewyt Charity Trust. Each week, the Lewyt Mobile Pet Health + Wellness Unit visits one of our partners to provide free health checks, microchipping, spays and neuters, vaccines, and flea and tick medications.
PETS WITHOUT WALLS IS UNABLE TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY VETERINARY CARE. If you are experiencing a medical emergency with your pet, please contact your nearest emergency veterinary hospital.
Our mobile veterinary unit rotates between different partner locations across San Diego County. We offer no-cost general health and wellness care. This includes spay/neuter surgeries, physical examinations, vaccines, flea and tick preventative, microchipping, and other basic wellness services. The Pets Without Walls mobile unit is unable to perform cytology, bloodwork, or dental procedures.
All public Pets Without Walls clinics are held at the Father Joe’s Neil Good Day Center located at 299 17th Street, San Diego, CA 92101.
How our clinics at Father Joe’s work:
Throughout the year, we host two types of clinics: spay/neuter and wellness.
Our spay/neuter clinics are for spay/neuter surgeries only. These surgeries are pre-scheduled with clients from our spay/neuter waitlist. To be added to the spay/neuter waitlist, please call (858) 756-4117 x 339 or email outreach@animalcenter.org.
Our wellness clinics are for wellness services only, which includes physical examinations, vaccines, flea and tick preventative, microchipping, and other basic wellness care. Availability is on a first come first served basis. Please have your pet leashed or in a carrier and bring any medical documentation you have. When you arrive, line up single file at the large back gate directly across the street from the black building on the corner. At 8:00am, a staff member will walk down the line to write your name, contact information, pet information, and place in line. Appointments begin at 9:00am.
Appointments are limited and we cannot guarantee your pet will be seen.
