Alumni Puppy Prom Returns!

Helen Woodward Animal Center Celebrates Orphan Pups’ Graduation to Greatness for an 8th Year…

Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.  (May 3, 2022) – Calling all hairy legs to the dance floor!  Helen Woodward Animal Center invites adopted alumni, and furry dapper darlings to this celebration of animal rescue. The Center’s Puppy Prom returns, after a two-year hiatus, reuniting four-legged friends on the dance floor! Grab your favorite fuzzy love and rub hairy shoulders with other adoptees at the 8th Puppy Prom, Saturday, May 14th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., hosted by Original 40 Brewing Company –3117 University Ave, San Diego, CA 92104.

For years, Helen Woodward Animal Center’s prom-themed reunion has brought together former orphan pets and their families from “graduating classes” as far back as 2004.   The pandemic put a stop to in-pawson events but, with the release of safety restrictions, the event returns to welcome pups decked out in adorable doggy dresses, tuxes, boutonnieres and painted paw-nails.  The Prom-themed party is FREE to all Helen Woodward Animal Center alumni, as well as other rescue-supporting guests.  Junior and Senior pooches can participate in such time-honored activities as the crowning of a Best Dressed “Prom King and Queen” ($15 per entry), snapping picture-perfect photos against a variety of classic prom backdrops, sipping and snacking on treats for pups and people, and even corsage and boutonniere-making.  Opportunity drawing tickets will be available with a chance to win great prizes. A group alumni photo of all guests will be taken for display on the Center website to honor our beloved extended family of puppies and people.  Canine attendees will receive party-favors provided by Kahoots, while supplies last.

Helen Woodward Animal Center loves our kitty alumni too and will honor them with a Best Dressed Kitty King and Queen Contest. To enter your rescue kitty, simply go online to submit a photo of your cat (dressed in their prom finery). Photos will be shared on our social media sites and voted on at the Puppy Prom by attending prom-goers with prizes awarded to the Best Dressed Kitty Prom King and Queen.   Cat parents are encouraged to attend to participate in voting for their beloved felines.

Original 40 Brewing Company will be offering a Puppy Prom libation special during the event – $5 for its Pawsitive Memories Blonde Ale – and is donating 30% of all food and drink purchases to support the Center pets and programs.  100% of all opportunity tickets and contest fees will also go directly towards supporting the orphan pets at Helen Woodward Animal Center.

“This is one of our very favorite events and we appreciate Original 40 Brewing Company for providing us such a beautiful location to hold it,” explained Helen Woodward Animal Center Adoption Services Director Hella Tyler. “This truly is a chance for all of us to witness the happy endings of our beloved friends. You can just see the love on the faces of the adopting parents and the overwhelming joy on the faces of the adopted pups.”
