Create A Beautiful Craft Project for Valentine’s Day!

Show some love for the environment this Valentine’s Day by repurposing a completed puzzle into a decorative craft!

The heart has become a symbol for love, but actual hearts are shaped a bit differently, more like an upside-down pear. Human hearts are about the size of a human fist, but heart size varies depending on the animal it is in. The smallest heart belongs to a type of wasp known as a Fairyfly and is more like a single tube, whereas the blue whale has the largest heart at about 400 pounds!

Hearts keep oxygen-rich blood circulating throughout the body which allows other parts of the body to get the resources they need to function. The body is kind of like a big puzzle and the heart is an important piece!

Materials: puzzle pieces, hot glue, ribbon, scissors

Directions

Step 1: Begin by placing one layer of puzzle pieces in the shape of a heart.

Step 2: Using hot glue, add another layer of puzzle pieces on top of the first layer. Be sure to place each piece in between two pieces on the bottom layer in order to connect the pieces together.

Step 3: Next, cut a piece of ribbon and use hot glue to attach it to the top of the heart creating a loop to hang the heart.

Step 4: Continue to add as many layers of puzzle pieces as you desire. The more layers the more sturdy the heart will be.

Display your puzzle piece heart during Valentine’s Day, or all year long!

Due to Hurricane Hilary, all  departments will be closing at 3pm today.  Stay safe!
