Orphan Pup Turns Over a New Leaf with a Fall Makeover!

NEVILLE’S NEW ‘DO’!

Orphan Pup’s Autumnal Transition Leaves Staff Speechless

(Even Neville seems shocked by how good looking he is, after teeth extractions by Helen Woodward veterinary team and a full make-over by Sydnee’s pet grooming.)

Rancho Santa Fe, CA (October 14th, 2016) – In other parts of the country, the change of the season brings a transition to outside foliage, with nature’s gorgeous colors and a distinct shedding of autumn leaves.  San Diego residents can’t see these sights without boarding an airplane or taking a long drive, but at Helen Woodward Animal Center, a recent makeover of a once-ragged orphan pup named Neville provided staff members with an equally delightful sign of timely change and a sure move to snuggle weather.

Neville, a 6 year-old Terrier-blend had spent weeks at a shelter in Yucca Valley.  Abandoned and alone, the scruffy dog managed to charm shelter workers with his sweet personality and hopeful smile, but his matted condition left him overlooked by potential adopters.  Although his backstory is unknown, Neville’s shaggy hair and rotting teeth signaled a former life of neglect and sadness.  Like the seasons, however, change comes when it is most needed.

“Our rescue partners could see what an amazing dog he was even if visitors to the shelter couldn’t,” stated Animal Care Assistant Manager Mollee Sullivan.  “They asked if we could take him and give him the makeover he deserved.  He arrived at the end of September and we all went to work making sure his beauty showed as much on the outside as it did on the inside.”

Helen Woodward Animal Center’s veterinary team provided Neville a full medical exam and dental, extracting unhealthy teeth.  Sydnee’s Pet Grooming, located in the Center’s Club Pet Facility went to work uncovering his good looks – a shedding of matted fur, and of past hurts as well.

“Now he’s as adorable as his personality,” explained Sullivan, “and he seems to know it.  You can tell he’s excited to get on to this next chapter of his life.”

Neville is ready for a season of love and a place to finally call home. For more information on Neville or to apply to adopt him, please call 858-756-4117 ext. 313 or visit Helen Woodward Animal Center at 6461 El Apajo Road in Rancho Santa Fe.
