Blind Pug See’s Happily Ever After

Alexander is a blind pug blend. A REALLY blind pug blend. When he was at Helen Woodward Animal Center, he would frequently bump into walls, go the wrong direction, and miss thrown toys. But it was so gentle and adorable, no one could resist him. The staff thought he would fly out the door.

But then a month went by and Alexander remained.

Our customer service staff reported he had tons of interest. No other dog in at least 10 years had gone on more meet and greet shows and not been adopted. When our animal techs would ask the prospective adopters why they didn’t take the three year old home, they said they didn’t know if they could handle having a blind dog.

But then, after months went by, a family came to the Center looking to add the pug blend to their family. They had two other small dogs and were looking for a third to complete their home. They met little Alexander, and then introduced their resident dogs to him. The canines got along unbelievably well and the family knew the blind boy was the missing piece their family needed.

Since going home, Alexander’s shown himself to be the “cutest, sweetest, most amazing dog,” according to his family. They take him with them on all of their adventures where he fits right in; he has perfectly assimilated into his new family’s house; and most importantly, he tippy taps right before he’s about to eat.
