Birthday Bash!

Basic Birthday Bash:

An age-appropriate, animal themed craft and games are set while guests arrive. The birthday child chooses 4 different animals and the Instructor will lead the group around the Center for age-appropriate animal presentations. The remaining party time is set aside for cake, presents, and fun!

We provide:

• A qualified birthday instructor
• Age-appropriate animal themed craft
• 4 animal presentations (animals chosen by birthday child!)
• A kitchen with refrigerator and counter space
• Tree shaded yard and picnic tables
• Life-size fiberglass horse, hula hoops, bubbles, and a bean bag toss
• Entire Education building and yard reserved for your birthday party!

You provide:

• Drinks
• Paper goods
• Decorations

Deluxe Birthday Bash:

Everything the Basic Birthday Bash offers and more! An age-appropriate, animal themed craft and games are set while guests arrive. The birthday child chooses 4 different animals and the Instructor will lead the group around the Center for age-appropriate animal presentations. After the animal presentations, it's time for cake, then, the remaining party time is set aside for Instructor-led games!

We provide everything listed in the Basic Bash, as well as:

• Instructor-led games
• Decorations
• All the set-up and clean-up

You provide:

• The food (including the cake)
• Drinks
• Paper goods

Ultimate Birthday Bash:

The ultimate birthday is designed to be stress-free for the parents. Choose a theme, then sit back and watch the children have fun! We provide everything but the food!

Themes to choose from:

Animal Extravaganza- Meet animals with feathers, fur, and scales!

Marvelous Mammals- Meet furry friends in all different colors and sizes!

Veterinarian party- What does it feel like to be a vet? Meet a variety of animals and participate in hands on activities! (Equine hospital tour for ages 9 and up)

Farm Friends party- What do animals do on a farm? Meet a pony, a goat, and sheep!

Reptile and Bug party- Meet scaly reptiles and creepy crawly bugs!

We provide everything listed in the Basic Bash and Deluxe Bash, as well as:

• 2 ½ hours of instructor led activities
• All the paper goods (plates, forks, cups, napkins)
• Framed photo of each child with an animal
• Instructor-led games and crafts
• Face painting (optional)
• All the set-up and clean-up
• Decorations (tablecloths included)

Cost:

Basic Birthday Bash :  
$200 for 15 guests- ages 4 and up

OR 10 guests - ages 3 and under  
$10 per additional guest

Deluxe Birthday Bash : 
$250 for 15 guests- ages 4 and up  
OR 10 guests - ages 3 and under  
$10 per additional guest

Ultimate Birthday Bash : 
$350 for 20 guests - ages 4 and up  
OR 15 guests - ages 3 and under  
$10 per additional guest

Your program fee helps support all our animals as well as the many human/animal services Helen Woodward Animal Center provides.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How does the party run? The first hour and a half is led by our instructor and includes and animal-themed craft as the guests arrive. The animal presentations follow. For the last hour, the children can play with bubbles, hula hoops, bean bag and ring tosses, and run in the yard. Parents take over for snacks, cake, and presents. If you chose a deluxe or ultimate party, there will be instructor-led games sometime during the last hour.

May I request specific animals for the guests to meet? If your child has an absolutely favorite animal, let us know and we’ll do all we can to make sure ones is included in the party. However, animals are selected for the party based on their health and how much they have been used in the previous week. Since animals are unpredictable, we cannot promise any particular animal for your event.

What animals are we able to choose from? At our center, we have miniature horses, goats, sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs, dogs, parrots, cockatiels, doves, frogs, lizards, snakes, turtles and tortoises, hissing cockroaches, stick bugs and giant millipedes. Depending upon the type of animal, the children may be able to pet the animals chosen.

Will we see the kennels and pet the dogs and cats? If you specifically request it, we can substitute a tour of the kennels for one animal presentation, but you won’t be able to pet the adoptions animals.

Can we ride horses? Regretfully not. The large horses that are staying at Helen Woodward Animal Center are mostly hospital patients.

What happens if it rains? Your party will be moved indoors, and you’ll still meet and pet a variety of animals (although probably not the pony due to muddy conditions).

What kind of decorations do I need to bring? Some people put table cloths on the outdoor picnic tables, but you will need to bring tape or clips to hold them down. If you book an ultimate party, we provide tablecloths, center pieces, and birthday banners. Please note for a variety of reasons regarding animal safety, no balloons are allowed in the yard.

Is the party appropriate for older children in the 8-12 year old range? We’re flexible, and we’re able to gear the program to your child’s age level. In the past, we have created a great experience for older children by changing the craft or including a behind-the-scenes tour of parts of the Center.
