Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make a reservation?
You can fill out our online booking form to request a kennel, which will be confirmed once you receive a confirmation email from Club Pet. You may make a reservation with a Customer Service Representative by calling (858) 756-4117 Option #2
What do I need to make a reservation?
Club Pet will need a current credit card on file to hold your reservation as well as your contact information and any pertinent information about your pet(s) including their updated vaccinations which must be provided at least two weeks prior to check-in.
What vaccines do you require?
All vaccinations must be given at least 24 hours prior to boarding. First time vaccinations (for puppies and kittens) must be given at least 2 weeks prior to boarding. Vaccinations cannot expire during your pet’s stay.
Dogs – Rabies, DHPP (Distemper) & Bordetella are required. We will accept proof of adequate protective titers in place of vaccines for Rabies and DHPP only. Rabies & DHPP can be either 1 year or 3 year vaccinations; Bordetella is mandatory and must be a 6 month vaccination. In addition, an Age Certificate is required for dogs over a certain age (based on weight), to be renewed annually.
Cats – Rabies, FVRCP & FeLV (Feline Leukemia) are required. We will accept proof of adequate protective titers in place of vaccines. Rabies & FVRCP can be either 1 year or 3 year vaccinations. Indoor cats – must have proof of a negative FeLV test at any point in their lives. If there is proof of a negative test, the FeLV vaccination is not required for indoor cats. If not, the FeLV vaccination is required. Outdoor (or indoor/outdoor) cats – must have a current FeLV vaccination (either 1 year or 3 years). Age Certificate required for cats over 12 years old, to be renewed annually.
Birds & Exotics – Exotic Health Certificate is required and must be renewed annually (prior to boarding). The Exotic Health Certificate is signed by your pet’s veterinarian and states that the bird or exotic pet is free of communicable disease and will be healthy enough to board in a non-medical, non-24 hour facility. It is available for download on the Club Pet website or can be provided to your veterinarian upon request.
Medical Stability Certificate – Pets undergoing treatment for a medical condition must have written veterinary clearance to board in a non-medical, non-24 hour facility. The Medical Stability Certificate must be renewed annually, prior to boarding, or may be required more often, as deemed by Club Pet Management. It is available for download on the Club Pet website or can be provided to your veterinarian upon request.

Can I take a tour of Club Pet?
We encourage you to stop by for a tour between 12pm- 3pm, seven days a week. No appointment is needed.
What should I bring from home?
While we provide bedding for your pet, you are more than welcome to bring their bed, blanket, and a few toys (no more than 5 please!). If you would like to bring your dogs crate from home, we do accept them in the kennel. If you’d like to bring your own food and treats we will gladly serve those to your pet, but we do offer Blue Buffalo food products for an additional charge. We also offer complimentary Blue Buffalo treats every day.
Will you exercise my pet during their stay?
We do take your pet out for a 10-15 minute potty break morning and evening, but we encourage you to sign your pet up for extra services during their stay.
Will my dog be with other dogs?
All of our dogs are boarded individually unless specified. However if you’d like for your dog to socialize with other dogs, you can sign them up for a Group Play as long as they are spayed or neutered. After a one time Temperament Test, your dog can play with others for up to 2 hours a day on our artificial turf field under the supervision of one of our trained Animal Care Technicians.
Where do you exercise my dog if it’s raining?
Some owners don’t mind having their dogs out in the rain, and for these hearty guys, our staff bundles up and heads outside. For the dog – or owner – who doesn’t see it that way, Club Pet has a large indoor arena for ball playing, tug-of-war, and all kinds of activities.
What do you do if my pet becomes ill?
Each time you check-in, we will confirm how we may reach you directly (or reach your designated emergency contact(s) authorized to make decisions on your behalf while you are away) in the event of an emergency. You will also be required to sign a Treatment Authorization release that allows us to seek emergency care for your pet if you and your emergency contact(s) are unreachable, should a situation occur.
If a problem arises, we will always try to reach you or your emergency contact before taking any action.During normal business hours, we will take your pet to Helen Woodward’s Companion Animal Hospital for emergency treatment.
Do you administer medication?
We do administer oral and topical medications for an additional fee; Club Pet cannot do injection medications. If your pet requires daily injections, Club Pet can still board them, but prior to the arrival day, the owner should contact Helen Woodward’s Companion Animal Hospital at 858-756-4469 to arrange an injection schedule during the pet’s boarding stay.
Will my pet be safe and secure while boarding at Club Pet?

Helen Woodward Animal Center staff are present in the Club Pet building 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and are available at all times to respond to problems or emergencies. Club Pet itself is not a 24 hour facility, which means we do not have animal care staff working in the boarding kennel late at night while the pets are sleeping.
