AniMeals Relief Program
Helen Woodward Animal Center’s AniMeals program feeds over 600 dogs and cats each month in coordination with different partner organizations throughout the community. The mission of AniMeals is to keep pets in the home regardless of the logistical or financial challenges faced by our clients which include homebound and low-income elderly, physically or psychologically impacted veterans, the disabled, and the homeless. For many individuals a pet is more than a pet, but rather a companion that provides friendship, joy and even a reason for living. AniMeals coordinates individual pet food packaging and delivery to those in need and in these times that includes pet owners who are struggling with the loss of employment due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
AniMeal’s Relief for COVID-19
Helen Woodward Animal Center’s pet food assistance program, AniMeals Relief, is graciously offering a two week supply of dog and/or cat food for individuals that have been laid off due to the COVID-19 outbreak. To help us keep the AniMeals Relief program assisting families that have been affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic we ask that you please provide proof of your current unemployment status in order to pick up your food supply. Once approved you are eligible for three months of assistance before needing to update your proof of continued unemployment.
Helen Woodward Animal Center’s AniMeals program works thru many partner organizations to provide assistance for individuals that were not directly affected by the pandemic. Please click here for a list of partner organizations that can provide you with AniMeals assistance.
We will assist in feeding up to three pets per household; either dogs or cats and we will email you an allotted time when your food will be available for pick up. If you qualify for the AniMeals Relief you will receive an email with a scheduled pick-up time.
We have partnered with Feeding San Diego to provide food for families as well. You will be asked about the size of your household so we can give you enough food. Pick-up times will be Wednesday’s during daytime hours only. Due to the social distancing advised by the CDC you must be able to come at your assigned time as your food will only be available then.
Are you interested in supporting AniMeals’ relief fund? You can make a monetary donation to ensure we’re able to help as many individuals as possible.
