Kibbles for everyone! H OPE Telethon raises $225,000!

 

Rancho Santa Fe, CA – Animal lovers dipped their paws deep into their pockets and donated more than $225,000 during H elen Woodward Animal Center ’s annual HOPE Telethon presented by Henry’s Farmers Market and Iams Dog and Cat Food on Sunday, September 23.

 

“Our annual HOPE Telethon is based on the cornerstones of Helen Woodward Animal Center’s mission,” says spokesman John Van Zante. HOPE stand for:

Helping people with special challenges

Orphaned cats and dogs finding safe haven

Parents and children learning about sharing the earth

Educating shelters about “the business of saving lives”

 

Highlighted on the telethon were the Center’s two original programs… Pet Adoption and Humane Education …as well as:

AniMeals for the pets of homebound elderly and disabled people

Pet Encounter Therapy for people in institutions

Therapeutic horseback Riding for those facing mental and physical challenges.

The award-winning Club Pet boarding facility

HWAC’s fully equipped EquineHospital

 

On-air hosts included some of San Diego’s best-known animal lovers.

Bridget Naso and Dave Scott from KUSI-TV

Dave Mason, host of the Beatles Radio Show on KGB radio

KSON radio’s Tori Peck from the Cliff and Company morning show

And HWAC spokesman John Van Zante

 

KUSI-TV’s Lena Lewis and KYXY radio’s Susan De Vincent also hosted fashion shows for dogs and children plus arts and crafts from HWAC’s Education program during an event at Westfield UTC shopping center.
